The Board Summit is an energizing, fast-paced networking event designed to introduce hundreds of business professionals and community leaders to local nonprofits looking for new board members. Nonprofits featured at the summit have the unique opportunity to network and engage with hundreds of business professionals looking to serve their community in a highly impactful way - through board service.

Benefits of Participation

Participating in the Board Summit is an opportunity to showcase your organization to potential board members and to meet people who want to contribute their time, talent and treasure to your organization. Benefits to nonprofits that are chosen to participate include:

  • A booth at the Board Summit, providing the opportunity to meet more than 300 professionals from the private, government and public sector, including many Leadership Austin Alumni and leaders from highly engaged Austin-based companies like National Instruments, Dell and Applied Materials, all of whom are interested in board service;
  • A profile about your organization and board service opportunities is included in the event program;
  • A listing on the Greenlights Board Summit web page and link to your web site as one of the featured nonprofits;

Guidelines for Participation

Organizations will be selected based on their readiness to provide board candidates with a quality board recruitment and service experience. An effort is made to select a diverse group of organizations, representing many focus areas and organization sizes. Preference is given to organizations that have not participated in the Board Summit in the past.

Nonprofit organizations interested in being featured at the Board Summit must:

  • Be an official 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization;
  • Be a current member of Greenlights;
  • Be represented at the event by the organization's executive director (or equivalent position) and a board member;
      • Participate in post event surveys with an update on the progress of any meetings or board placement with potential board candidates connected through the Board Summit;
      • Pledge to provide a quality board nominating/recruiting experience to all potential board candidates, including contacting board candidates in a professional and timely manner as needed for board consideration; and
      • Upon notification that your organization will be featured, pay a nominal participation fee of $50 - $150, depending on annual operating budget size.

      Participation Fees:

      • $50 organizations with annual operating budgets of up to $250,000;
      • $100 organizations with annual operating budgets of $250,000 to $1 million;
      • $150 organizations with budgets of $1 million and above.
